Lord rama cross river, Lord rama crossing river sarayu, guha meets lord rama, kewat in ramayana

The Above Picture portrays a story which is worth knowing, This happened during the time when Rama and Sita Devi have been exiled for Vanavasa for 14 years leaving the Kingdom

During the time of Vanavasa, Lord Rama, lakshmana and Sita Devi were walking through the forest and have finally reached a river called Sarayu, which needs to be crossed to Reach Chitrakoot. Hence looking at the river Lord Rama and lakshmana fell into a deep thought on how to cross the river, as the river looked very deep and can only be crossed with boat

Guha [Guhudu in Telugu, Kewat in North India] a small boatman who makes is living by helping people cross the river in his boat, offers his help to lord rama, Goddess Sita Devi And lakshmana in crossing the river in his boat

However kewat humbly requests lord rama to allow him to do pada Pooja to his feet before he gets into his boat Rama with a smile says I appreciate your devotion, however what is that which has made your mind to ask me to do pada pooja ?

Guha [Kewat] humbly replies to lord rama with utmost dignity and respect and starts saying that  my lord there are lot of stories which are roaming around your country about the eternal touch of your feet, we have heard that with your eternal touch a concrete stone has been converted into a Women [Ahalya], and I am worried if my boat even turns into a women as this is the only means of my livelihood

Rama smiles and assures Guha that his boat will be safe and gets into the boat of Guha

Post Rama, lakshmana and Sita Devi settles on the boat the boatman drives it safe to the other bank of the river

Ramayanam, lord rama lakshmana and sita, lord rama & sita

After reaching the other side of the river Rama looks at the boatman and asks on what he can give for this help ? [Price / Charge for helping them cross the river]

Guha respectfully with a low voice says My god, Two different people who make their living in the same business are not expected to charge anything to the other person who is also in the same business as you are, it is the rule which is followed in your country

Rama surprisingly Asks, how are we both in the same profession, Guha says, lord I am in the profession of helping people to cross from one bank of the river to other  and lord even you do the same by helping people of this world cross the river called SAMSARA

You are helping the people to reach from the state of unhappiness to Happiness

One day I will come to you at your bank of river for help please help me then.
